On March 1, 2013, homeowners should receive their County and Township Real Estate tax bills. The discount period ends April 30, 2013, face period ends June 30, 2013 and the penalty period ends December 31, 2013. After December 31, all unpaid tax bills are returned to the Centre County Tax Claim Bureau for collection. www.co.centre.pa.us

Supplemental Bills

It is required that the Centre County assessors appraise a property on the date a change in ownership occurs or new construction is completed. Taxes are computed from the 1st of the month following the change to the end of the fiscal year. In most cases, this assessment results in one or possibly two supplemental tax bills being sent to the property owner in addition to the regular real estate County/Municipal and School tax bills that are mailed March 1st and July 1st (or because of delays by the SCASD, July 15th). The supplemental bills are mailed February 1st or July 1st and are generally not paid by your mortgage company. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to pay these bills unless they have made previous arrangements with the mortgage company. 

Address Change

Tax bills are mailed to the last known address of the property owner.  It is the responsibility of the property owner to notify both the Centre County Assessment Office of any name and/or address changes.  Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the taxpayer of responsibility for timely payment .

2011 Rules and Regulations for Tax on Earned Income and Net Profits

The calendar year 2011 tax return will be the last return you will be filing with the Harris Township Tax Office. File the 2011 return with our office as you normally do.

All resident should have received a 2011 Earned Income and Net Profits tax return by January 31, 2012.  This tax return must be filed along with a copy of your W-2 and/or any appropriate schedules by April 15th. All individuals moving in or out of the Township in 2011 must prorate your income and taxes withheld only for the period that they were residents of the Township.  Please scroll down for the 2011 Harris Final EIT Return form. Forms can be dropped off during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM), mailed to the office, or after hours in our mail slot (located next to the front door).
